hello.
my name is Emily, and I came across your board after finding it in the directory of pro boards forums. After posting one message as a guest, I decided to register for the full experience.
I live in the UK, in Birmingham- a city with everything I need (or most things I need), within walking distance. I do have a car, but prefer when I can to walk. I use taxis a lot as well, trains not so much though- and never planes, terrified of flying.
I am a survivor of abuse from my family groing up, and I've not spoken to any of them in.. at least 20/30 years now. they made it clear they don't want me as their daughter, and I'm fine with that- honestly I am fine. I'd rather live without them than be constantly abused.
I am the only person in my family who is religious, I have been religious since the age of 9, and just recently returned to church after covid. It's a female only church, it's nice
lovely to meet all of you and see you around the forum

I was born in the Black Country, then moved to the East Mids where I worked for 20 years, now i'm back in the West Mids. I'm honestly sorry to hear about your abuse. In terms of religious background, i'm a retired Jehovah's Witness, although largely self taught as I was only in the JW's for 3 years and even then effectively a 'part timer'. This period of 3 years was when I was living in Newark over in the East Mids. around 10 years ago, prior to and after that 3 year period, I have had no real involvement in 'the church'. Strangely enough i'm terrified of flying as well. Good to have you 'on board'. Saint Michael (he who is like (only like) ...) Prepare us for Battle!I don't know a lot about Jehovah's Witnesses, but don't they have a magazeen called the watchtower? I could be completely wrong here, but I swear I remember someone saying that they had a magazeen called the watchtower thanks for the welcome, and also for understanding about my abuse. believe it or not, people hear the sentence I was abused, and make all kinds of assumptions- most of them along the lines of well, if you were abused, you're probably abusive yourself, though I am a really nice person and love to help people- quite often putting their happiness before my own
